Canadaway Creek Conservation Project

In June of 2005, the program hosted the first annual Canadaway Creek Conservation Project where community members and organizations were brought together to clean up the stream, plant willow and dogwood trees and remove invasive plant species. These activities protect and nurture the stream by:
removing harmful and toxic garbage
stabilizing the stream’s banks,
promoting insect life,
controlling sedimentation,
creating cooling canopy,
and restoring native vegetation.

The hope is to foster respect and create a sense of stewardship of the region’s natural resources.

Images and text describing more current projects can be seen in the “blog” section of this site.
