Lamar River and Soda Butte Creek, Yellowstone Park
2015
Color Video
13 minutes and 22 seconds
I have been fortunate enough to have gone to Yellowstone Park several times as a fly fishing mentor with Family Tyes, a youth fly fishing program in Pittsburg, PA. When that organization stopped taking children to Montana, I took my family to experience the wonder of that part of our country.
This video includes footage collected over the last three years of going to the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone Park. In the last two years, I have had the pleasure of being accompanied by two good friends and my son.
The connection between nature and culture seems to have been lost, as most of our social and economic reliance has moved to an urban setting. Our culture has developed outdoor recreational activities, zoos and pets as a way to reconnect with our innate need to be closer to nature. This film investigates one attempt to reconnect.
