Shortly after the fly tying lessons, the instructors discuss safety procedures for group fly fishing and take the students fishing in local streams and ponds. Students in actual experiences in the field use the information taught in the classroom. Positive reinforcement and catching fish is important in keeping youths interested in the program. The lesson plans continue throughout the year as steelhead migrates into the streams from the Great Lakes.
